I still prefer the cartoons that I grew up with : Hanna-Barbera , Disney animated movies , the older Cartoon Network stuff , 70-80's anime . That doesn't mean that the newer stuff isn't good . Like you said : Family Guy , DC animated movies or anime series like My Hero Academia etc. Too many to mention .

I seem to match up with Grundy, I still prefer the older cartoons I grew up with. I will always enjoy Darkwing Duck, or earlier shows like Real Ghostbusters. The old Hanna-Barbera shows are great, Huckleberry Hound, Quick Draw.... so many good cartoons.

There are good new shows too, I have really enjoyed Milo Murphy.

My favorite cartoon as an adult would probably be Wander Over Yonder. I find that as I've gotten older I prefer the sillier stuff.

Cartoons made outside of Japan that  I enjoy as an adult.

Boondocks. Its shame there are no more season. They could have had fun with both sides of the 2016 primaries.

Many of the DC animated movies, which is weird because I enjoyed mostly Marvel Comics while growing up.

Some of the New Transformers cartoons.

The 2011 reboot of Thundercats. It was pretty good. But only one season.

I used to enjoy Southpark,Simpsons, Family Guy and American Dad.

W.I.T.C.H. is my absolute favourite cartoon of all time by an enormous margin, and I don't think that will ever change - especially considering the current Western animation "industry". (Obviously, that is the reason why it was my very first share on this site.)

The fact that it isn't an "adult" cartoon (read: grossly immature sitcom) is a significant contributing factor.

It's gotta be Family Guy for me. Just seems to be my go to cartoon nowadays.

So if it's limited to the shows I first watched as an adult (as opposed to shows from your childhood that you still love as an adult) then...

Regular Show

Steven Universe

Young Justice

Archer

The DC Universe Animated Films (with particular soft spots for Justice League Doom and Batman Under The Red Hood)

Thundercats 2011

Gravity Falls

Wander Over Yonder

As a child and as an adult, it's the same answer--GarfieldScooby-Doo.

As a child, I did not enjoy shows with a darker aesthetic (Invader Zim) or a dark color palette (Batman: TAS, Samurai Jack).  However, as i've gotten older I have tended to appreciate those shows immensely.

Picking an overall favorite cartoon is difficult, but I find shows jam packed with cynical wordplay and a frantic pace like Rick and Morty and Venture Brothers have significantly more rewatchability than most series I watch

I didn't watch ATLA properly until I got to uni and now I watch the series annually usually during Summer in late Jan / early Feb and then LoK during the Fall.

It really is a series for anyone and everyone, timeless classic.

I've watched a bit of Generator Rex while I was younger, but as an adult I've seen more of it and realized it's one of my favorite action cartoons. It kind of got overshadowed by the Ben 10 franchise.
